Cranking Up My Daily Workouts – Without a Fitbit!

Okay I’ll admit it, I miss my Fitbit Charge HR. After my first Fitbit finally fell apart for good, I received another. I threatened to switch to a Garmin to get it though. The second one also fell apart. Then it died when it froze trying to update the software. Finally, when my daughter Elizabeth upgraded to a Fitbit Blaze, she gave me her Charge HR. That Fitbit has also fallen apart. So I am without a Fitbit or any other Fitness Tracker. As a result, I have not been working out as much! Actually,the lack of a Fitbit is probably just a convenient excuse!

EKK Starts to Crank Up His Daily Workouts 

Anyway over the last few days, I have been slowly trying to get back to working out for 30 minutes plus in the morning. Today my morning workout was 40 minutes in length and included 4- HIIT rounds of jumping jacks, squat thrusts, mountain climbers, a 4 min. with resistance bands, 4 min with a kettle bell,   8 lb weights, 15 lb weights, and 2 minutes of jump rope and a coupe of other things. All and All it was a good workout.

The only bad thing is that I don’t know neither my heart rate throughout the workout nor how many calories I burned!! And I don’t like it!! I guess it’s time to be on the lookout for a good inexpensive GPS fitness tracker with a heart rate monitor. Anyone have any recommendations?

EKK Restarts Using the Younger Next Year Journal

One of the things that I have been doing on a regular basis though is keeping track of both my exercising and my meals. Last year while I was using the Fitbit, I would occasionally record my meals and keep track of my calories on the computer. However, I never did it consistently. Since I have used the journal for many years, I know I can record things more consistently in the journal.

The main reason that I like recording things in the journal is that it does make me think about what I eat. It makes me feel bad if I eat crap and then I have to write it down. Likewise,  if I miss a day of exercising and have to leave the day blank it makes me feel bad.

EKK Needs to Restart Using His Bullet Journal

Last year I started to use a bullet journal for a wide variety of activities. Just like the exercise journal, it made me feel good when I crossed things of my daily log or monthly log. And it made me do things that I should do, but never got around to doing. Like installing a new smoke alarm or cleaning out the dryer vent. I haven’t started this year’s bullet journal. Although,  as I write this I am remembering all of the positives about using the journal. So I think it’s time to start using it again. I may even be able to use the bullet journal to remind me to write in the Younger Next Year Journal!!
